Ogasawara Aki is the reclusive, idealistic composer of the popular band Crude Play. Discontented with his life and with no drive to succeed, he meets Riko, the 16-year-old grocer's daughter in a band consisting of her childhood friends, and asks her to be his girlfriend on a whim. Riko, young and innocent, agrees immediately, but worries about her new boyfriend, whom she suspects has just broken up with a woman he cared very much for.

From JanimeS, now Sura's Place: This manga follows the adventures of a group of mercenaries: the barbarian Moka (the main character), the rogue Blueman, and the mage Kirinman. Moka and her gang belong to a dark mercenary guild. Moka, being a barbarian, has great physical strength and, of course, she has no brain. Despite her very revealing suit, she is very innocent, pure and naive. The story starts when a light master seeks to hire some mercenaries, and the guild refuses to help him since he has no money with him. So the dark guild master sends Moka, Bluman, and Kirinman to aid him. It's really not a great start but this is how everything begins. The author's drawing dramatically improves after volume 5. The plot becomes much more refined as well. It can be considered a typical adventure story. However, this manga goes a little deeper than that. After volume 10 or so, the plot becomes really profound and deep. Dragons are involved, and whole nations go to war. The scale becomes quite large. Really enjoyable manga.
The typical Kochikame plot involves Ryo-san coming up with a money-making scheme by inventing a new gadget or capitalizing on a fad, achieving great success, calling on Nakagawa's help as things turn sour, and finally losing it all as the fad runs out of steam or out of control. While the plots are gag-driven, much of the humor comes from the juxtaposition of mundane characters with the bizarrely incongruous (Nakagawa's wealth, Maria's appeal, everyone's lack of actual police work), most of which is never explained or rationalized in the slightest. Kochikame has a broad audience, ranging from adolescent boys to middle-aged salarymen. Much like Homer Simpson, Ryo-san's antics appeal to children who can laugh at an old buffoon and to men fearing that they are becoming old buffoons themselves. The stories are generally innocent in content, and what little violence appears is comical, while the occasional risqué subjects are included strictly for laughs rather than to titillate. In another parallel to The Simpsons, Kochikame's immense popularity has lead to guest appearances in the strip by Japanese celebrities such as Tetsuya Komuro. (From Wikipedia)
