Iku Kurihara is a solitary otaku residing in Tokyo who takes pleasure in indulging in the latest anime and manga. He prefers to keep to himself outside of school and work, but one day a stranger bumps into him while walking on a footbridge, causing one of his doujinshi to fall. Although a generous passerby offers to assist him, Iku flees the scene and leaves one of his books behind, knowing that the good Samaritan is an apparition haunting the bridge. Undeterred by Iku's abrupt exit, the ghost, Mimori Seo, trails him to return his lost item. Iku is fascinated by Mimori's ability to physically interact, whereas Mimori is intrigued by Iku's ability to perceive him. Eventually, the two determine to become roommates. However, Iku becomes apprehensive as Mimori reenacts his demise every night at 23:45, only to wake up with no remembrance of his previous experiences. Iku takes it upon himself to put an end to Mimori's perpetual cycle and embarks on a mission to break the loop.
