Okuto Nakamura, a meek and somber student, holds dear only two things in this world - his beloved pet octopus and his kindhearted classmate, Aiki Hirose. Sakuragi Ryo categorizes high schools into three ranks - "A" for the best-looking, smartest and most athletic, "B" for the average, and "C" for the ignored. He desires to lead a peaceful life in the "B" ranks where he can stay away from unwanted attention. One afternoon, he comes across three bullies who are harassing a girl.
