The manga focuses on a certain unnamed character who appears throughout the story of A Certain Scientific Railgun and A Certain Magical Index, and whose name is revealed in this story set at Tokiwadai Middle School.
Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Prof. Saotome pilot three specially designed combat jets, which can be combined together in different forms to form three different kinds of giant robots, Getter-1 (used for aerial combat), Getter-2 (for land-based conflicts), and Getter-3 (for undersea battles). They were assembled by Prof. Saotome and became Earth's first line of defense against the Dinosaur Empire, which is a civilization of reptile-like humanoids, who evolved from the now-extinct dinosaurs that roamed the earth millions of years ago. The series was groundbreaking in the anime mecha genre: for the very first time, it introduced the concept of separate machines combining to form a super robot. Using three jets, Getter Robo could combine in three different ways to create three different versions of Getter Robo for different conditions and situations. This idea was originally discussed during the creation process for Mazinger Z (the first super robot to be piloted internally), but was dropped and then developed for Getter Robo. The Planet Group is formed of powerful families that represent each planet in our solar system and the central Sun Family. Midori is the eldest son of the Earth Family, who is just now entering his high school life in the Planetary Academy. Other than his family name, however, Midori has little going for him. He doesn't get good grades and is shy and socially awkward. His low self-esteem isn't helped by the general disdain his father and younger brother openly show towards him. All they want is for him to not further "dirty" the family name, by staying silent and not standing out in public. It's been 18 years since Rin died. Alisa, who is Sei and Lou May's daughter, lives with her mother, her brother Shinji, and Ken in Hawaii. Shinji is Ken and Lou May's son. Shinji knows Alisa isn't Ken's real daughter, but Alisa doesn't. Alisa sometimes sees a phantom boy. One day, she sees a boy point to the sky, where she sees a plane. By the plane, Rie, Shin's son, comes to ask Ken for some help. He also knows Alisa is really Sei's daughter. Alisa is called "Dragon's daughter." Rie says a prophet told him that he would marry a woman who's a dragon's blood relative. When they go into the forest, Rie also sees a boy. Alisa tells him that the boy is a phantom and that he is the only other person who can see him. Her family had told her that the boy was the spirit of the forest, but she doubted that. She thinks the boy is trying to tell her something.
The first two chapters of this manga serve as an intro and show us Godzilla ravaging Tokyo in 1991. He is soon joined by King Ghidorah and the two fight. The next chapter shows a team of scientists and the discovery of Godzilla's mutated cells. In the following chapters we see Godzilla destroy the city, and the Futurians appear to propose a plan to rid humans of Godzilla. They are quick to reveal their true identity as disguised Xiliens who want to conquer the world with King Ghidorah. The dragon begins to fly towards the Earth, but finds itself faced with Biollante who now lives in space debris. During combat, King Ghidorah strikes Biollante with its gravity beams. Biollante absorbs the essence of its power and then becomes a plant-like King Ghidorah clone. But even with Biollante's enhancements, it is still defeated. The Futurians' saucer is destroyed and their plan fails forcing them to live incognito among humans. The next chapter is devoted to a group of fishermen sailing peacefully by telling the story of Yamata no Orochi, until Godzilla arises before them. Orochi appears and does battle with Godzilla. Wanting to get a good look at the monsters, one of the sailors began to go towards them. But, he got too close to the edge of the boat and fainted causing him to fall into the water. When he wakes up, the fight is finished and he and his friends find themselves shipwrecked on a raft. The following chapters are humorous adventures and show us "behind the scenes" with a stuntman born and bred to embody Godzilla on the screen. The final chapter features a small Godzilla who is captured by soldiers of the US Navy who want to take him home, but an adult Godzilla appears and reduces their ship to pieces.
